Each Spring, The Ramsey Public Education Foundation accepts applications for new Trustees to serve on our board.
We seek dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy working on a cooperative board and having the opportunity to give back to the community in a significant way. Your energy and talents will be truly appreciated and your experience will prove to be very rewarding.
Board experience provides the opportunity to network and collaborate with a committed group of dynamic, creative, and intelligent individuals in the Ramsey community. Having a direct and significant impact on our fundraising and contributions is incredibly rewarding. The innovative programs funded by your efforts greatly benefit our children and the community as a whole. The positive feedback we receive from the schools and community at large generates a sense of camaraderie and inspiration.
RPEF offers a fantastic opportunity to increase your non-profit knowledge and board experience while giving back to the community, whether this your first foray into a non-profit role or you are a seasoned board veteran. As a trustee, you will have opportunities to expand your knowledge and experience in areas like marketing, communications, finance, and community relations.
The Foundation requests a 3-year commitment from its trustees. If, after that 3 year period, a Trustee would like to contribute to the foundation in a limited capacity or in a specific area, he or she is welcome to continue as an associate trustee.
Our two major annual events are “Fall Gala” in early-October, and “Sprint for Our Schools” 5K and Fun Run in mid-May. RPEF holds smaller events throughout the year and we are always open to new ideas for future fundraisers.
Leading up to our two major events, the workload increases and all trustees are required to solicit businesses to support and sponsor our events. The workload outside of these events is significantly less and will depend on your level of involvement with particular RPEF committees. Many RPEF trustees maintain full-time jobs and are able to fulfill their RPEF duties without interrupting their work schedules.
All trustees are expected to attend board meetings once a month from September through June. These meetings are generally held in the evening and are 1-2 hours long. Trustees work individually, in small committees, and as a collective, to plan and conduct our fundraising activities. Trustees are involved in every aspect of running the RPEF organization and there are many ways to get involved while on the board. Your overall time commitment depends, to a certain extent, on your level of involvement.
